Spar 60th Anniversary Event

Awards Shows | Conferences 3 MIN READ

Following a decade of experience producing arena-scale corporate events SXS were invited to provide technical production and show support for SPAR’s 60th Anniversary celebrations.

Held at the vast Manchester Central Convention Complex,  the SPAR 60th anniversary event featured multiple areas including a ‘festival’ area with stage for live bands and talks, fun fair and main dinner/awards space. Each area had extensive technical production from SXS to deliver on live performances, digital content and guest experiences.

The main awards arena was designed fully ‘in the round’, featuring a large arrangement of circular video projection screens, 360 degree line array sound systems, special effects, pyrotechnics and intelligent moving lighting to ensure the experience reached even the furthest corners of the ex-railway station. The L’Acoustics Kara system was selected to give excellent coverage of the entire event space. Barco HD projection was used with full redundancy to ensure rock-solid picture quality and reliability on the main circular screens.

Lighting was primarily provided by our friends at Chauvet, with additional effects provided by Astera as well as various traditional lighting fixtures from ETC and Selecon. Avolites’ Tiger Touch console's were selected as the control system of choice.

The ‘festival area’ featured a stage and roof system originally developed for outdoor festival events, and adapted to fit within the confines of the indoor space for this project. A Martin Audio W8LM mini line-array system was used in this area to bring festival quality audio into a more compact space, along with P3 LED wall and touring-grade lighting fixtures for the authentic festival experience.

Elsewhere, SXS provided further support with breakout stages, power distribution, effects, and a ‘time tunnel’ structure to transport guests through the history of SPAR’s 60 years.

The entire technical production was led by the SXS team with the majority of equipment provided from SXS-owned and maintained stocks.
