An amazing week of lighting and art attended by thousands and putting Weston on the map.
Glorious Lights of Weston (GLOW)
The Brief:
GLOW is an annual community arts trail and lighting spectacular put on by various cultural groups in Weston-Super-Mare and the surrounding area. Centred around Grove Park, visitors are treated to a variety of lighting, visual, audio, and artistic installations from artists and cultural bodies. PYTCH were tasked with transforming the park with multiple installations, site lighting, power distribution, and general technical support as well as providing further support for installations across Weston.
The Solution:
PYTCH supported the project as part of our community engagement initiative and provided a full technical and creative support solution. We worked with Culture Weston to develop a host of artistic installations from leg-powered racing LED trees to an immersive laser projection feature. We also supported the other artists on site by providing everything from audio equipment to structures to support their features. The client was keen to engage in discussions around sustainability, and PYTCH supported this by offering sustainability consultancy, and power distribution utilising our off-grid energy generator SolCell. The team were on-site for a full week prior to the event installing power, lighting, and other infrastructure, before operating the features every night during the show.
The Result:
An amazing week of lighting and art attended by thousands and putting Weston on the map.
“You really are great partners. Working with PYTCH gave me total peace of mind that the vision for GLOW would be realised practically, creatively and safely. Even with challenges such as only wanting to use limited site power, PYTCH created a detailed power plan that met all the regs and gave us everything we needed. Nothing was too much trouble and it was a pleasure working with them.” - Paula Birtwistle, Production Manager, Culture Weston.
“PYTCH crew were the nicest, most polite, considerate technical people I have ever met, nothing was too much trouble, they were kind to all the volunteers and it was a pleasure to have them in the park” - Natalie, Friends of Grove Park
