Westonbirt Arboretum Enchanted Christmas 2021

The Brief:

When Forestry England partnered with PYTCH for the third year to deliver the acclaimed ‘Enchanted Christmas’ event at Westonbirt Arboretum, the brief was set for a fully designed and managed solution. The challenge began with the creative conception of a compelling storyline, scripts, character creation, and lighting trail encompassing stunning lighting design, props, and effects to make the most magical Christmas experience possible for both children and adults alike. All of this was to be delivered whilst highlighting the unique features of the Arboretum.

The Solution:

PYTCH developed ‘The Search for the Lost Reindeer’ – in a magical world, Father Christmas has accidentally flown through a storm, crash landed, and lost his reindeer! Around this story, we built a lighting trail experience for families to walk through the storm, admiring the beautiful lighting and trees along the way. Our solution included scripting and character design, content creation, props and scenic construction, performer management, comprehensive sympathetic lighting design and effects including laser and video mapping, health and safety management, logistics and power management.

The Result:

Widely regarded as the event’s most successful year to date, Enchanted Christmas 2021 saw 40,000 visitors enjoy the trail over 12 days. PYTCH have been retained as production partner for 2022 and planning is already well underway!
