What is the origin of your passion for events?

I started off in recording studios assisting engineers on sessions and then began helping out at a local jam night, off the back of that I met someone who owned their own pa that they were using for a small festival, and they booked me to help. I loved it and wanted more, before finishing college I started working with a local production company around going to university and haven't looked back from the events industry since.

How this led to a career in events?

As mentioned above, I began working for a local production company, and would return to work for them each summer whilst back from university, and whilst on placement I took on the position of head of sound. When I finished university I stayed in Bristol and worked for another production company as an Accounts Manager, but I missed working with tech and soon moved to the warehouse as a lighting technician. I worked odd freelance sound jobs around this position until I stated taking unpaid leave to do it and eventually left the company to focus on freelance work completely, until the Covid pandemic wiped out all my work and I moved into a food distribution centre to be able to have a stable income. Once this had mostly subsided I was contacted by Jordan at PYTCH and asked if I was ready to return to the events world; I jumped at the opportunity.

What is your education & past work background?

I gained a Triple Distinction National Diploma in Music Technology with Business at College before graduating First Class in Audio and Music Techology from UWE. I'm also a Level 2 Avolites Tital endorsed programmer. My previous work over the years includes being the Head of Sound, Accounts Manager and Lighting Technician for various companies, as well some time as a freelance sound tech prior to Covid.

What is your favourite project you've worked on?

I have two; Aria-Glow - My interactice project on Westonbirt and the making of the soundscape for this and the music for Rainbow Road, it was really nice to get creative and figure out how to make things work with tech and get around problems.

What is you biggest passion for your current role?

Working with music and recording/editing/mixing audio.

Tell us a bit about yourself!

I'm no musician but when unwinding at home I have an electronic drum kit, bass guitar, electric guitar, acoustic guitar, small synth and small dj controller that I will mess around with and get hours of enjoyment. If feeling too tired or it is too late I will mess around with software on the computer, watch Netflix or play Xbox.
