A live stage set for a Netflix film, built in the ExCeL arena.
Teen Spirit
The Brief:
‘Teen Spirit’ is the story of a young aspiring musician who is thrust into the limelight when she enters a singing talent competition that is broadcast live on national television. The production team approached PYTCH as the experts in arena-scale production design to consult on and create production sets for the semi-finals and finals of the fictional talent competition around which the story is based.
The Solution:
PYTCH were brought on as creative and technical consultants. We designed two stunning stage sets for the semi-finals and finals of the contest, and were then tasked with producing and delivering the concepts on site. We worked with the ExCeL in London to define suitable space and additional services such as seating, overhead rigging, and lighting, and delivered a full scale arena production within the space. Our lighting designers created and programmed a full time-coded show to ensure perfect continuity between takes and camera shots, and we liaised with the filming team to trigger playback at the correct points during the filming schedule.
We even starred in a few shots of the film!
The Result:
“Such a fun shoot with you guys! Thank you for everything (you did), very much appreciated!” - Autumn Durald-Arkapaw, Director of Photography
“Working with you guys was awesome, you really brought the vision to life and dealt with all our changes and last-minute requests! The set looked awesome in the end and we’re all really excited to see the finished result on screen” - Kave Quinn, Production Designer
